8 Remedies For Bloating

Most of us have felt that irritating bloating-feeling at some point or another.
Some get bloated more than others, which can be rather painful not to mention disturbing to your every day routine.

Bloating occurs when gas builds up in the stomach and intestines, making your stomach swell and feel uncomfortably full.

Fennel seeds are very effective in reducing abdominal pain such as bloating. This is due to their carminative, diuretic, pain reducing properties. Fennel seeds help reduce bloating by relaxing muscle spasms in the digestive tract.

Method:

  • You can simply chew a teaspoon of fennel seeds.

Or

  • Add one teaspoon of crushed fennel seeds to one cup of warm water.
  • Add one teaspoon of honey and let it steep for ten minutes.
  • Strain it.
  • Drink this tea two or three times a day.

 

 

  1. Peppermint

Peppermint contains menthol oil, which has an anti-spasmodic effect on the smooth muscle of your digestive tract. This oil helps relieve spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, gall bladder and bile duct, thus aiding in the process of eliminating that horrible feeling of being bloated.

 

Method:

  • You can chew a few fresh peppermint leaves for relief from bloating.

Or

  • Add fresh peppermint leaves to a cup of hot water.
  • Add one teaspoon of honey or sugar.
  • Let it steep for about fifteen to twenty minutes.
  • Drink this once or twice a day.

Method:

  • Put two tablespoons of chamomile in a cup.
  • Add boiling water and steep for about fifteen minutes.
  • Strain the water.
  • Add one tablespoon of honey or lemon juice if you prefer an additional flavour.
  • Drink this tea two to three times a day, in between meals.

Ginger works wonders for many health issues. For bloating, ginger is a superb food. It contains many active ingredients, including the pungent compounds gingerols and shagaols that aid in reducing inflammation in the intestines and relax the muscles which cause bloating in the first place.

Method:

  • Eat one tablespoon of fresh grated ginger before meals.

Or

  • Place five to six thin slices of ginger in a cup.
  • Add boiling water into the cup.
  • Add a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice or honey (optional)
  • Let it steep for ten minutes before drinking it.

Method:

  • You can simply chew on a pinch of several caraway seeds daily.

Or

  • Crush two teaspoons of caraway seeds and put them in a cup.
  • Add hot water and let it steep for about ten minutes before drinking it.
